Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Review
/Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was released in 2011. It’s a first-person shooter by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games. Published by Activision. A direct sequel to 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.
Once again you play as different characters throughout the game. Continuing straight after the events of Modern Warfare 2, Captain John Price, and Nikolai evacuate an injured Soap MacTavish to a safe-house in Northern India. Makarov (from the previous game) has sent out a force to kill them. That’s where the game starts. The war between Russia and United States soon ends when the U.S. regains control of their military infrastructure. Meanwhile Makarov attempts to take hostage the Russian President who is brokering a peace deal with the U.S.
The missions of the game are separated into Acts. With multiple missions in each Act.
The combat system has not changed since the last game. Health regenerates quickly after being hit, showing a red splatter on the screen to show how bad you are hurt. The ammo is plenty with no real need to resupply during the game. Once again moving forward is how you progress through the game.
Using the IW5 Game engine the weather and environmental effects are much improved as well as the visual quality of the environment. The story is overshadowed by the continuous action packed style of the game play. I enjoyed this game more than Modern Warfare 2 but not as much as the original Modern Warfare. I like how you get to control modern military equipment like helicopter guns, UAV’s and laptops that control air strikes etc.
There are many locations throughout the game and the change of scenery kept me interested. I thought the story was getting a bit old in the tooth and boring after three games. Voice acting and cut scenes were all done well, same can be said from the performances of the soldiers who accompany you throughout the game.
Overall I found this game enjoyable to play and worth the money I spent.
Rated Mature.
I give it 8.9/10
